Totalitarianism

Good government is supposed to look like a shepherd, guiding people toward what’s good and keeping them safe from danger, even when that takes some force to do it. But governments don’t always stay healthy. Totalitarianism happens when a government stops shepherding and starts swallowing everything, reshaping reality to fit whatever the regime believes and reaching into every corner of a person’s life.
